Unquowa Parents Association (UPA)
Nearly one hundred years ago, a group of parents dedicated to academic
excellence in a small and nurturing environment, came together and The
Unquowa School was established. That spirit of commitment to our
fundamental ideals and the partnership of our faculty, staff and
parents, lives on today, in The Unquowa Parents Association, more
commonly referred to as the UPA.
As evidenced by the following list of UPA officers, there are many positions
and opportunities for parents to share their time and their talent with the
whole school community. What each member of the UPA has in common and what each
board position strives to achieve, is the sense of community and fellowship that
have become the hallmark of the Unquowa education.
The scope of the UPA can best be summed up in two words; fun and
fundraising. We host many school-wide events and endeavors that are designed
to enrich our students' educational experience as well as to foster a strong
sense of school spirit. Whether it is an evening out for the whole family to
enjoy, such as our Bingo Night, or an adult only gala affair, such as our Annual
Auction, our volunteers come together to support Unquowa. The UPA helps to
build our school's future on the sturdy foundation of her history and tradition.
All parents and/or guardians of each student are, by definition, members of
the UPA. We meet each month to discuss current projects and brain storm for new
ideas. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend because the UPA is the
gateway to parental participation in our school. From classroom
representatives, our room reps, to president of the UPA, there are many avenues
for involvement in our children's education.
Parental partnership is an integral part of the Unquowa tradition and the UPA
facilitates this grand partnership in an effort to support our students while
working to enrich their educational experience. Come and join us. |
