Clubs & Activities

In addition to our after-school athletics program we offer a number of activities for students both before and after school. Clubs and activities include:

Guitar Ensemble

Students in grades 2 through 8 who are interested can join our guitar ensemble after school. Lessons are offered by our music teacher, and students perform at some of our weekly assemblies.

Chorus

Students in grades 5-8 meet before school twice a week for choral singing. In addition to performances at school events and assemblies, our chorus has performed in the community.

Recorder Ensemble

Students in grades 5-8 meet in once a week before school to learn and to play the recorder.

Improv Theatre

Students in grades 6-8 can join our Improve Club which meets weekly. Students learn the basics of Improvisational Theater through games and movement exercises.

Jewelry Making

Students in grades 3 & 4 meet once or twice a week to learn beading and to make jewelry.

Ski Club

The Ski Club is open to students in grades 5-8. They go on trips to Sundown Mountain with teacher chaperones during ski season.

Brownies/Girl Scouts

We have both a Brownie troop (grades 2-5) and a Girl Scout troop (grades 6-8) consisting of Unquowa students who meet alternating weeks after school in our dining room.

SWAT

Students Working to Advance Technology (S.W.A.T.) is a group of students that work with the Technology Department and Mr. Mitchell to help around the school with technology needs. They meet weekly, and as needed, to learn advanced skills, support technology set up in the school, and how to be a good resource to their classmates and peers in school.

Mathcounts

Mathcounts is a nationwide coaching program and competition developed to encourage and enrich student interest in mathematics at the middle-school level. The Unquowa Mathcounts team, composed of seventh and eighth graders who have demonstrated exceptional mathematical talent and who enjoy mathematical challenges, meets weekly with Mrs. Haseltine. They learn to apply advanced problem- solving strategies and prepare to participate in the Southwest Chapter competition.

Project FeederWatch

As part of our Project FeederWatch, students in grades 3-8 learn to identify birds and help conduct a winter-long survey of birds that visit the feeding station behind our school.

Socials

Students in grades 6-8 participate in a number of socials, some of which are off campus. Recent socials have been held at Bounce U in Stratford and at the Easton Community Center.

After School Socials

In school socials are held during the school year for students in grades 4 & 5. Activities include games, karaoke, and special snacks.
