Ms. Lauer came to head The Unquowa School in 2004 after spending over twenty years in teaching and leadership positions at other independent schools in the Northeast. Drawing from her own experience as an independent school teacher and raising a son and daughter - both of whom attended independent day schools and colleges - she writes and speaks frequently about the various aspects of childhood and a school's role in working with parents to raise and educate their children. As a steward of our school's future as it approaches its centennial, Ms. Lauer works to maintain the vigorous, experiential academic atmosphere that has been the hallmark of the school since its inception.

Mrs. Cerone joined The Unquowa School community in 2006. Along with both previous experience in the larger business world and the independent school setting, Mrs. Cerone has a keen sense of her role in the financial stability of the school.

Mrs. Hansen came to The Unquowa School as a faculty member over twenty-five years ago, and her current position as Dean of Faculty is informed by her years in the classroom. Mrs. Hansen's knowledge of the curriculum, faculty and school culture that her years of experience have built also serve her well as Director of Admissions. In that role, she has not only the perspective of a former teacher but also that of of parent and grandmother. Her son is an Unquowa alumnus and her grandchildren currently attend the school.

Kate joined the Unquowa staff in 2009. She has been an active member of our parent community since 2001 when her children entered the school. Kate's background is in non profit management with an emphasis on strategic planning, outreach and development. In addition, she is a former NYC public school teacher. Kate is excited to combine her experience in non profits and education to help Unquowa.

Ms. Cain's relationship with our school began as that of an active and dedicated parent, and her daughters are both alumnae of the school. She began her professional relationship with the school in the admissions office over a decade ago.
