The Admissions Process

The Unquowa School offers academic excellence in a community characterized by small classes and individual attention. Our goal is to assist each family in making a well informed decision for their child.

After parents make their initial inquiry they are invited to tour the school. When the parent submits an application, a visit is scheduled for the student to spend time in the classroom with a teacher and fellow students. During this visit, each student is screened to provide an academic profile. The parent meets with Unquowa's Head of School, Sharon Lauer, for further discussion and to have any questions answered about our school and its policies.

The Admissions Packet includes the process in detail. The parent arranges for the student's records and teacher recommendations to be forwarded to the Unquowa Admissions Office for review. Students entering grades 6-8 are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Unquowa's Admissions Committee meets and makes a recommendation to the Head of School regarding the student's acceptance.

Admissions timing for each Academic Year:

  • Re-enrollment contracts sent to current students in January
  • Siblings admitted in February
  • New students admitted beginning in February and March, continuing if there are openings

The Unquowa School does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, creed, gender, or national origin in administration of its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarship or financial aid policies, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
