Tennis players from both teams braved chilly weather and cold hands as they completed matches with equal results on Friday at Greens Farms Academy.  Wind chills by the water did not trump the passion for the game. A special thank you to both teams for their display of good sportsmanship and persistence. Congratulations to Erica, Kai and  Parker for their decisive victories in both doubles and singles. Everyone showed improvement in all areas and it was inspiring to see their indifference to the challenging weather.

The girls’ lacrosse team just played their first game and Mrs. O’Connell and I couldn’t be more proud. After only three practices the girls displayed great teamwork, determination and good sportsmanship. As always, they were such polite guests. Kai and Gracie were offensive standouts and Jennee and Peta-Gay contributed strong defensive performances. Great start, girls!

The Junior Varsity basketball team was simply amazing during their winning game against Fraser Woods. They successfully executed a variety of fundamental skills and played “tall” on defense. The audience was delighted to hear them ask for picks and pleasantly surprised when they made it happen. They were a selfless and inclusive team that passed the ball to everyone. Offensive standouts were Alex, Jackson, Eoin and Jae, while the defensive standouts were Kailey, Devin, Elizabeth, Derek, Claire, Marissa, Kyra and Henry. Congratulations to everyone!

The girls improved their record to 3-1 with a hard fought victory over Greenwich Academy. The game was close all of the way until the girls pulled away for a 47-39 win. Chelsea  and Kai  led us in scoring , while Bailey and Peta-Gay dominated the boards. Seventh graders Katherine and Jennee were strong contributors off the bench. Congratulations girls, on another great effort!

Girl’s Green Varsity Basketball Team continues to show excellence on the court. Their confidence and execution of zone defense is growing with every game. Outstanding offensive performers were Erin and Colby while the entire team was simply amazing at defense. Every player contributed with enthusiasm and focus. Congratulations to Evangelina, Keelin, Jaeden, Katie, Lily, Victoria and Abby and Rebecca for holding the other team to only ten points.

Girls’ Green Varsity had their first home game against Greenwich Country Day. Although they fell short of the win, they were victorious in effort and enthusiasm.  It was a competitive battle against a strong team.  They were outstanding on defense and should be very proud of their infectious energy. It was great to have such a large audience cheering them on as they never gave up. They played as a team and always looked to pass the ball. Everyone contributed. Standouts on offense were  Colby and Keelin while defensive stars were Brienne, Lily, Jaeden, Gracie and Erin. This was a great start to the season!

The Girls’ Green Varsity basketball team were a fine example of tenacity, as they never gave up the challenge of coming from behind. Although they fell short of the win, they demonstrated growth, perseverance and a winners’ attitude. They adjusted their defense , offense and energy and the crowd joined them in spirit and pride. This game simply promised that even greater games lie ahead. Everyone continues to contribute to the successful growth of the team.  Outstanding offensive standouts were Keelin, Colby and Brienne, while outstanding defensive players were Lily,  Jaeden, Erin, Sydnee, Rebecca, Victoria and Rachel.

Boys’ varsity continues to impress with a victory over The King School. It was a wonderful example of team work and patience as they contained their enthusiasm for the “sportsmanlike win”. Their passing, defense and execution of team plays were so much fun to watch. The best part of it all was that everyone contributed to the win. This team is off to a perfect start and a lasting impression.  Offensive players that stood out were Danny, Justin, Sisso, Ian, Michael and Paul, while defensive standouts were Mark, Max and Spencer. Congratulations!

The Girls’ White Varsity Team won with class against a very tenacious Harvey team. They really demonstrated the value of teamwork, defense and consistent sportsmanship. They have an outstanding reputation of representing a selfless and unafraid team spirit where everyone contributes and everyone plays. Outstanding offensive players were Chelsea, Kai, Gracie and Bailey, who executed sound shooting skills.  They finessed and drove through the defense with ease. They were also major contributors on defense. Other defensive standouts were Peta-Gay, Katherine and Gemma, while Jenee showed a persistent and take-charge spirit at point position. Well done, players.

We continue to be proud of the poise and persistence of the Boys Varsity team. Although they fell short of the win over the Brunswick School, they far exceeded excellence in tenacity and sportsmanship. The game was physical as well as emotionally charged.  Our team continued to stay focus. This game highlighted our school spirit.  Everyone made positive contributions. Stand outs on offense were Chris, Matt, Charlie, Winston and Josh while defensive standouts were Marc, Tristan, Charlie and Andrew. It was a hard fought game that was exciting to watch!
