Admissions Process
All private schools have
similar basic goals of academic excellence within a community characterized by
small classes and individual attention. Different schools emphasize different
values. It is important that the family and school understand each other's
values and priorities to make a well informed decision for their child.
After parents make their
initial inquiry they are invited to tour the school. When the parent submits an
application, a visit is scheduled for the student to spend time in the classroom
with a teacher and fellow students. During this visit, each student is screened
to provide an academic profile. The parent meets with Unquowa's Head of School,
Sharon Lauer, for further discussion and to have any questions answered about
our school and its policies.
The Admissions Packet includes
the process in detail. The parent arranges for the student's records and teacher
recommendations to be forwarded to the Unquowa Admissions Office for review.
Unquowa's Admissions Committee meets and makes a recommendation to the Head of
School regarding the student's application.
